Personal Trainers also understand the principles of nutrition and weight management and can provide evidence-based guidance within their scope of practice to help clients achieve their goals while promoting health, safety and professional standards.

A Gym Instructor is qualified to plan and supervise safe and effective gym-based exercise for individuals using a range of cardiovascular, resistance and flexibility equipment. They can conduct basic health screening, demonstrate correct exercise techniques, monitor performance, promote safe exercise practices and support members in achieving their general fitness goals.

Gym Instructors play an important role in creating a safe and welcoming gym environment. Unlike Personal Trainers, they are not qualified to design long-term, individualised training programmes or deliver one-to-one personal training for a range of specific health and fitness goals.

A Group Fitness Instructor is qualified to plan and deliver safe, effective and engaging exercise classes for groups across one or more fitness disciplines. They create a positive and motivating environment while applying the principles of exercise science, health screening, participant safety and effective class instruction.

Group Fitness Instructors may deliver pre-choreographed programmes or other recognised class formats, depending on their qualifications. They are skilled in planning and leading group exercise sessions while adapting their instruction to meet participant needs and promote a safe, enjoyable experience.

A Group Fitness Instructor (Freestyle) is qualified to design, choreograph and deliver safe, effective and engaging group exercise classes to music, typically within a studio environment. They have the knowledge and skills to plan original class content, select and sequence exercises, and adapt sessions to meet the needs and abilities of participants.

Freestyle Instructors apply the core principles of anatomy, physiology, health screening, motivation and safe exercise practice. They are competent in selecting appropriate music, structuring and progressing classes, monitoring participant technique and evaluating each session to deliver an enjoyable and effective exercise experience.

A Yoga Teacher is qualified to safely plan and deliver yoga sessions that support strength, flexibility, balance, mobility and overall wellbeing. They create inclusive classes for a range of abilities, applying sound teaching methodology while promoting safe practice and individual progression.

As a minimum, REPs UAE Yoga Teachers are trained to the internationally recognised Yoga Alliance RYT 200 standard. Their education includes yoga techniques and practice, anatomy and physiology, philosophy and ethics, teaching methodology and professional practice, providing a strong foundation for safe and effective instruction.

A Pilates Instructor is qualified to design, deliver and adapt safe and effective mat Pilates sessions for apparently healthy adults, either in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. They help participants improve core strength, posture, flexibility, balance, movement control and overall body awareness through structured Pilates exercises.

Pilates Instructors apply the principles of exercise science, health screening and safe practice to every session. They provide clear instruction, demonstrate correct technique, monitor participant performance and adapt exercises to meet individual needs while supporting long-term progress and positive movement habits.

A Comprehensive Pilates Teacher is qualified to design, deliver and adapt both mat-based and equipment-based Pilates programmes for a wide range of clients. In addition to the competencies of a Pilates Instructor, they are trained to teach using specialised Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Cadillac (Trapeze Table), Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and other studio equipment.

Comprehensive Pilates Teachers have an advanced understanding of movement, posture, biomechanics and exercise progression, enabling them to tailor programmes to individual needs while promoting safe, effective and high-quality instruction. This category typically recognises professionals who hold an internationally recognised comprehensive Pilates certification.

An Aqua Fitness Instructor is qualified to plan, deliver and adapt safe, effective and engaging water-based exercise classes for a wide range of participants. They use the unique properties of water to create low-impact workouts that can improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, mobility, flexibility and overall wellbeing while reducing stress on the joints.

Aqua Fitness Instructors apply the principles of anatomy, physiology, health screening and safe exercise practice within an aquatic environment. They are competent in selecting appropriate exercises and equipment, adapting sessions to suit different fitness levels and abilities, monitoring participant safety, and evaluating each class to ensure an enjoyable and effective exercise experience.

A Children's Fitness Instructor is qualified to plan, deliver and adapt safe, engaging and age-appropriate physical activity sessions for children and young people aged 5–11 years and 11–15 years. They create fun, inclusive and developmentally appropriate activities that encourage lifelong participation in physical activity while supporting children's physical, social and emotional development.

Children's Fitness Instructors understand the principles of child growth and development, age-appropriate exercise, motivation and safe coaching practices. They are also trained in safeguarding, child welfare and their legal and professional responsibilities when working with children and young people.

An Advanced Exercise Specialist represents the highest level of professional recognition within REPs UAE. To achieve this category, applicants must demonstrate a minimum of five years' professional experience, hold an advanced qualification in their area of expertise, provide employer references, and show a proven track record of working with the client group covered by their specialist certification.
