REPs UAE sign Mutual Recognition Agreement with EREPS

REPs UAE has signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement with the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS). Through the agreement REPs UAE and EREPS will promote and ensure the highest professional standards for exercise professionals and work towards greater recognition for the fitness sector in the coming years.

Under this agreement REPs UAE and EREPS agree to uphold and respect the decisions made by each other in the practice and governance of their Registers. As part of this commitment EuropeActive (who oversee the operation of EREPS) agrees to recognise and accept the registration onto EREPS of any applicant registered on REPs UAE. This arrangement is reciprocated by REPs UAE who agree to recognise and accept the registration onto REPs UAE of any applicant registered on EREPS. In addition, EuropeActive Accreditation Services will provide an accreditation service for training providers based in the UAE. The experience and expertise of its accreditation team means that EuropeActive is well placed to deliver this service and to support REPs UAE in ensuring the highest quality of training provision for the UAEs existing and future fitness and physical activity professionals.

Catherine Hanson Farid, REPs UAE Director of Operations, said “We are keen to partner with like-minded organisations who promote the concepts of professional registration and high standards of skills and competence for exercise professionals. As such we are happy to sign this Agreement with EREPs to collaborate in areas where we can support each other in the years ahead. The UAE is a major international destination for the employment of fitness professionals and many REPs UAE members are from Europe. It will be a major benefit to our current and future members to be assured that mutual recognition means their EREPs registration will be accepted by REPs UAE when they come to the UAE and vice-versa, REPs UAE registration will be recognised and accepted for membership of EREPs for trainers leaving UAE to go and work in Europe”.

Julian Berriman, Director of the Europe Active Educational Services Department, said “This Mutual Recognition Agreement is an important step forward in the desire to achieve greater communication and collaboration between the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS) and other established international registers. If clear standards of member recognition, accreditation and quality assurance can be mutually adopted across such registers this can only support and hasten the further professionalisation of the fitness and physical activity workforce to the benefit of workers, employers and consumers alike”.
